Located in the heart of Andong, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Catholic Sangji College is a private vocational college that has grown alongside the local community for over 50 years, firmly establishing itself with the identity of a “Lifelong Vocational Education College.” Founded in 1970 under the founding philosophy of the Catholic Diocese of Andong, the college has become a cradle of innovation leading the future industries of the region, based on its deep history, tradition, and practice-oriented educational philosophy. On its campus at 45 Sangji-gil, Andong—a city rich in cultural heritage and natural beauty—Catholic Sangji College is dedicated to nurturing the potential of each and every student. The college’s greatest strength lies in its “industry-academia cooperation-based practical education.” Curricula in diverse fields such as health and nursing, IT, tourism, design, and social welfare are closely linked with local industries and institutions, enabling students to acquire the skills needed to enter the workforce immediately upon graduation. In particular, the nursing and health fields offer abundant opportunities for field training and employment through partnerships with local medical institutions, while IT and design programs maximize practical competencies through hands-on classes that reflect the latest trends and technologies. Across all departments, support is provided for obtaining certifications and tailored career consulting, resulting in an employment rate that has exceeded the national average for vocational colleges over the past five years. The college also focuses on nurturing talent through practical experiences such as community service and cultural projects linked to the local community, as well as global exchange programs. Catholic Sangji College is also renowned for producing numerous graduates who are active in various fields. Notable alumni include Kim Dong-wan, a member of the popular idol group Shinhwa, and top model Lee So-ra (who withdrew), as well as many professionals in social welfare, health, IT, and other areas who have pursued their dreams here. The extensive alumni network, active in many sectors of society, provides substantial mentoring and networking opportunities for current students, contributing to regional development and the cultivation of future talent. Above all, the “people-centered” educational philosophy is a unique hallmark of Catholic Sangji College, fostering a warm sense of community and nurturing individuals with a strong sense of social responsibility. For international students, Catholic Sangji College offers an optimal environment. As a university certified by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Justice with the “International Education Quality Assurance System (IEQAS),” students receive preferential treatment in visa acquisition and scholarship selection.
