Shinhan University is a four-year private comprehensive university based on two campuses in Uijeongbu and Dongducheon, Gyeonggi Province, close to northern Seoul. Established in 2013 through the merger of Hanbuk University and Shinheung University, Shinhan University is rapidly growing under the slogan “The Center of Creative and Convergent Education,” aiming to nurture talented individuals grounded in Christian values. Located adjacent to Subway Line 1 in the Seoul metropolitan area, the university offers excellent accessibility for both domestic and international students and stands out for its practical education and strong connections with the local community and industry. Shinhan University’s strengths lie in its practice-oriented specialized education and interdisciplinary convergence across various academic fields. The health sciences, including Nursing, Radiological Science, and Dental Technology, boast a long history, while departments such as Cyber Drone Bot Military Studies, Hotel Culinary Arts, and Performing Arts enhance employment competitiveness through close industry-academic cooperation. Starting as Shinheung Health College in 1971, the university has established itself as a leading regional institution for over 50 years and has taken the lead in creating an inclusive educational environment, as evidenced by its excellent evaluation in the 2017 “Assessment of Educational Welfare Support for Students with Disabilities.” Support for international students is also a key feature of Shinhan University. As a university certified by the government’s IEQAS (International Education Quality Assurance System), it offers favorable conditions for international students in areas such as visa issuance and scholarships. Students with outstanding official language proficiency scores—such as TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean), TOEFL, or IELTS—are eligible for scholarships covering up to 100% of tuition and support for dormitory fees. Systematic support is provided, including reasonably priced dormitories (approximately 300,000 KRW per month for double occupancy), Korean language and academic mentoring, cultural experiences, and safety and health programs for international students. Upon admission, international students can participate in a variety of programs, including orientation, academic, lifestyle, and career counseling, and global citizenship education, and students from various countries actively interact with one another. The Uijeongbu campus is just a one-minute walk from the subway station, offering excellent accessibility, while the Dongducheon campus is well connected via shuttle buses.
