About University

Cheongam College is a private junior college located in Suncheon, Jeollanam-do, established in 1954. For over half a century, it has grown alongside the local community as an educational institution. Situated at the heart of Suncheon, where nature, city, and industry converge, Cheongam College has established itself as a leader in practical, hands-on education. With a field-oriented curriculum and strong employment competitiveness, it is a place where students' dreams become reality. Offering a variety of majors, in-depth practical training, and a robust industry-academia network, Cheongam College has consistently proven that “competence is the future.” The greatest strength of Cheongam College lies in its flexible educational system, which includes 2-year, 3-year, and 4-year programs, and its broad academic structure, operating 23 majors across four fields: Natural Sciences, Humanities & Social Sciences, Engineering, and Arts & Physical Education. In particular, the nursing, health, and engineering fields boast high employment rates, thanks to close industry-academia cooperation with local industries and a practical, hands-on curriculum. For example, Suncheon and the eastern Jeollanam-do region are home to advanced medical, welfare, and industrial complexes, enabling Cheongam College graduates to work immediately after graduation at local hospitals, companies, and public institutions. Furthermore, Cheongam College nurtures talent ready to enter the workforce right away through its unique specialized departments and practical training infrastructure, and has consistently achieved outstanding results in industry-academia cooperation projects and government-supported programs over the past three years. With a tradition spanning half a century, Cheongam College has produced numerous talented individuals who have contributed to the community and industry. Founded in 1954 as “Suncheon Nursing Technical High School,” it established itself as the region’s first specialized educational institution in the health and nursing fields. Since then, it has steadily expanded its departments and campus, upholding the mission of junior colleges to cultivate practical talent. Cheongam College alumni have become key personnel at hospitals and welfare institutions throughout Jeollanam-do, as well as leaders in public institutions, companies, and the local community, serving as a driving force for regional development. Under the slogan “Competence = Employment,” Cheongam College has become the most trusted source of professional talent in the eastern Jeollanam-do region. Support for international students is also a point of pride for Cheongam College. As a university certified for International Education Quality Assurance (IEQAS) by the Korean Ministry of Education, it offers preferential benefits in visa screening, scholarships, and various forms of support. There are a variety of scholarship programs, such as the International Student Scholarship and the Global Leader Scholarship, which can significantly reduce tuition burdens depending on academic performance and language proficiency. The campus is equipped with state-of-the-art dormitories, providing a safe and comfortable living environment. In addition, Cheongam College operates systematic programs to ensure stable academic and daily life for international students, including tailored support for graduates of its Korean language program, TOPIK preparation classes, mentoring and buddy programs, and counseling and adaptation support.
