Gwangju Health University is a leading health and medical specialized university in the Republic of Korea, located in Sinchang-dong, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City. With a history spanning over 40 years, the university has earned a reputation as "Gwangju’s top health professional college" by nurturing talent responsible for the health of the local community. Supported actively by Gwangju Metropolitan City, it stands as the only specialized health college in the region, boasting strengths in field-oriented practical education and high employment rates. Gwangju Health University’s greatest pride lies in cultivating top-level professionals in core health and medical fields such as the Department of Nursing and the Department of Physical Therapy. In particular, despite being a junior college, the Department of Nursing is the only department in the region to confer a four-year bachelor’s degree in accordance with the government’s nursing college unification policy, resulting in exceptionally high employment rates at major hospitals and national medical centers in the Gwangju and Jeonnam areas. The Departments of Physical Therapy, Radiology, and Clinical Laboratory Science each have over 40 years of history, boasting a proud tradition recognized nationwide. Graduates are leading the medical field not only at prominent local institutions such as Chonnam National University Hospital, Chosun University Hospital, and Gwangju Christian Hospital, but also at national and public medical centers across the country. The university traces its roots to Supia Industrial Vocational School established in 1971, relocated to its current campus in 1986, and adopted its current name in 2011, continuing a legacy of change and innovation. The educational expertise and human networks accumulated through this process serve as a solid asset for both current students and alumni. Support for international students is also noteworthy. Through a special admissions process for international students, Gwangju Health University provides full exemption of the admission fee and a 50% tuition scholarship until graduation, and operates global career design programs such as free TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) courses. Some courses are offered in English, and a variety of support systems are in place for international students’ academic and daily life adaptation, including counseling, student council activities, clubs, and a career support center. The university also offers excellent living conditions, including a dormitory (Samuel Residence Hall), on-campus clinic, convenience facilities, and free WiFi. Although official certification under IEQAS (Ministry of Education’s International Education Quality Assurance System) has not yet been confirmed, as the only specialized health university in the Gwangju area, support for international students is systematically provided.
