Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology (DGIST) is a research-oriented science and engineering university located in Daegu, the heart of scientific and technological innovation in the Republic of Korea. Under the motto of “World-Class Convergence Research-Oriented University,” DGIST was established in 2004 as a national research institute and has experienced rapid growth, launching its undergraduate program in 2014. With a campus designed to embody the next generation of research institutions and an innovative curriculum linked to national strategic industries, DGIST has established itself as a core institution representing Korea’s science and technology-focused universities, despite its short history. DGIST’s most distinctive feature is its “Single Convergence Undergraduate School” system. Incoming students are admitted to the School of Convergence, without traditional departmental divisions, and organically study a wide range of fields such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, life sciences, engineering, computer science, and artificial intelligence.
