Daejeon Institute of Science and Technology is a private junior college located at 100 Hyecheon-ro, in the heart of Seo-gu, Daejeon Metropolitan City. With a history spanning over 80 years, it has established itself as the “Mecca of Practical Education,” nurturing field-oriented professionals. Based on its founding philosophy of “Respect for Heaven, Devotion to Country, and Love for People,” the university is renowned not only in the Daejeon area but also nationwide for producing professional workers in diverse fields such as health and life sciences, advanced engineering, social education, and arts and physical education. The university’s greatest strength lies in its outstanding competitiveness in the health and life sciences fields, standing out among junior colleges nationwide. By focusing investment in departments where practical training and field experience are crucial—such as the Department of Nursing, Department of Physical Therapy, and Department of Beauty Design—it systematically operates programs from associate degrees to advanced bachelor’s degree courses. Since its founding in 1940, Daejeon Institute of Science and Technology has led changes and developments in junior college education not only in Daejeon but throughout Korea. In 2011, the school changed its name to Hyecheon University, and in 2014, it was relaunched as Daejeon Institute of Science and Technology, securing its symbolic status as one of the region’s first private junior colleges.
