Seokyeong University is a four-year private comprehensive university located in Seongbuk-gu, where the urban center and nature of Seoul harmoniously coexist. Established in 1947 under the name “Korea University,” Seokyeong University holds historical significance as the first officially recognized night university in Korea. True to its motto, “The world before you, Seokyeong beside you,” the university emphasizes practical education and the cultivation of global talent, boasting unrivaled competitiveness in specialized fields such as arts, beauty, and applied music. With a vibrant campus, diverse cultural experiences, and a strong alumni network, Seokyeong University offers a unique stage for you to realize your dreams. Seokyeong University’s greatest strength lies in its top-tier curriculum and infrastructure in the fields of practical arts and beauty. Centered on specialized colleges such as the College of Performing Arts and the College of Beauty Arts, practice-oriented departments like Theater and Film, Applied Music, and Beauty Art (Global Makeup Design) are particularly prominent. In fact, the Departments of Applied Music and Theater and Film consistently produce highly competitive and internationally recognized artistic talent each year. In the beauty arts field, Seokyeong University established Korea’s first specialized graduate school for beauty (Graduate School of Beauty Arts), strengthening industry-academia cooperation and practice-based education to lead the global “K-Beauty” trend. In addition, five colleges—including Humanities, Social Sciences, Science and Engineering, and Business—operate over 20 departments and 16 majors, striving to nurture creative and convergent talent (CREOS-type talent). Seokyeong University boasts a significant influence in the fields of popular culture and the arts. Graduates from the Departments of Theater and Film, Applied Music, and Beauty Art are active at the heart of Hallyu culture, including K-POP, dramas, and films, producing many stars such as actor Han Sang-jin, singer Kahi (After School), Jeon Somin (KARD), and Jung Seung-hwan. These alumni have grown by gaining field experience through Seokyeong’s practice-oriented curriculum and industry-academia cooperation programs. Furthermore, the university’s foundation as Korea’s first night university and its history alongside the Korean War add to its social significance. Since 1947, it has evolved from International University to the current Seokyeong University, and is recognized as a rare example in Korea for having experienced closure and revival. The support system for international students at Seokyeong University is also highly systematic. As a university certified by the Ministry of Education for excellence in international student management (IEQAS), students can receive additional points in visa issuance and scholarship screening. Each year, more than 500 international students are enrolled, and a variety of courses, including specialized majors like Global Makeup Design, are offered in English. Various financial support programs are available, such as scholarships exclusively for international students and merit-based scholarships. Dormitory facilities, including Yudam Hall, are located both on and off campus, ensuring convenience and safety. All academic procedures—including course registration, graduation, visa, and reinstatement—are supported in a one-stop system by the Office of International Affairs. For students lacking Korean proficiency, conditional admission and Korean language education programs are provided. Before graduation, students are required to obtain at least Level 4 on the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK), which helps with practical language and cultural adaptation. The Seokyeong University campus boasts a pleasant environment where the city center of Seoul and the green spaces of Bukhansan blend together. All buildings are connected by underground passages or skywalks, creating a unique structure that allows for convenient movement even in rain or snow. The campus is equipped with various facilities, including sports fields, club rooms, art performance halls, and a creative center. With excellent subway access via Bukhansan Bogungmun Station and Solsaem Station, both daily life and commuting are convenient. Start your own unique university life at Seokyeong University, where a global campus culture, practical educational environment, and the passion of students who love arts and beauty come together.
