About University

Suwon Catholic University is a specialized university located in Suwon, Gyeonggi-do, recognized for its creative convergence and practice-oriented education. With the motto “Where Value Meets Innovation,” the university excels at integrating traditional humanities education with cutting-edge digital fields, producing future-ready talent across various disciplines and strengthening its presence both in the local community and on the global stage. What sets Suwon Catholic University apart is its unique academic structure, which fuses the humanities with advanced digital technologies through majors such as “Digital Heritage.” Instead of a traditional history department, the “Digital Heritage” major focuses on digitally preserving and interpreting cultural heritage—a rare curriculum nationwide—cultivating convergence talents who combine culture, arts, and technology for the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Additionally, the College of Arts offers majors in Multimedia Video, Acting, and Music, all of which emphasize hands-on education and real-world experience, aiming to nurture professionals optimized for the entertainment and media industries. Unlike other universities, Suwon Catholic University actively pursues industry-academia cooperation with local cultural, artistic, and industrial sectors, providing students with extensive opportunities for practical training and internships. This leads to greater employment competitiveness after graduation, with particularly strong results in the digital cultural content and performing arts fields. The university is also renowned as a cradle of K-POP and Hallyu stars. Notable alumni include Moon Hee-joon of H.O.T., Kim Hyun-joong of SS501, actor Song Seung-heon, singer So Chan-whee, Kan Mi-yeon and Shim Eun-jin of Baby V.O.X, Shinji of Koyote, actors Chun Woo-hee, Cha Tae-hyun, and Yoon Shi-yoon, among many other celebrities. Their achievements in practical arts majors such as Multimedia Video and Acting directly demonstrate the strengths of the university, highlighting Suwon Catholic University’s influence on popular culture and the spread of Hallyu. The high rate of graduates entering the media and performing arts industries serves as a great inspiration to students pursuing their dreams. Support for international students is also highly systematic. Depending on their TOPIK scores, new students can receive a variety of scholarships, ranging from full tuition for up to two years (for level 6), to full tuition for one year or one semester, or a 50% tuition reduction. There are also separate global admission scholarships for students from key partner countries. After admission, the university provides comprehensive care through the Office of International Affairs, including Korean language education, classes exclusively for international students, counseling on daily life and visas, and employment support. Well-equipped dormitory facilities on and off campus allow international students to focus on their studies in a stable environment. A wide range of internationalization programs—including English-taught courses, exchange student opportunities, short-term training, and overseas internships—offer the ideal environment for students seeking to develop global competencies.
