Kosin University, which began alongside the reconstruction of the Korean church, is a private university with a long history, established in 1945 in Yeongdo, Busan. Located on the Busan Yeongdo Campus, where the sea and port come together, Kosin University has made “Christian values and practice” its core identity and has grown beyond theology into various fields such as health sciences, natural sciences, and global cultural convergence. By combining in-depth faith education, community engagement, and practical academics, it fosters “genuine talent,” boasting both a warm community and a solid educational environment. Kosin University’s greatest strengths lie in its specialization in “theology and health care” and its unique identity as the only mission school in the Busan region. Building on its tradition as a theological college, it has continuously expanded practical and in-demand departments such as the College of Medicine, Department of Nursing, and College of Natural Sciences. In particular, the College of Medicine contributes to the advancement of local healthcare and collaborates closely with medical and health networks in Busan. Additionally, the university actively supports students’ career development and competency enhancement through the establishment of interdisciplinary programs such as the College of Global Cultural Convergence, expansion of industry-academia cooperation and field training opportunities, and a variety of extracurricular programs. While the number of departments is smaller compared to large comprehensive universities, Kosin University’s selective and focused educational environment allows for a high degree of individual attention and strong bonds among students, which is a key differentiator. Kosin University has produced many notable alumni who have made an impact in various sectors of society. Distinguished graduates include Hong Myung-bo, a national football team member; actress Kim Ah-joong; and singer Sung Si-kyung, who have all excelled in the entertainment, sports, and cultural fields. These alumni have achieved outstanding results in their respective areas based on Kosin University’s character-centered education and practical curriculum, greatly contributing to the university’s social credibility. Above all, the unique historical background of being founded by Christian believers who were imprisoned for refusing to participate in Shinto shrine worship immediately after Korea’s liberation in 1945 is a legacy unique to Kosin University, emphasizing both religious conviction and social responsibility, and serves as evidence of its role in the modern history of Korean education. Support for international students is also a point of pride for Kosin University. Centered around the International Exchange Team, various programs such as Korean and English language courses, cultural experience programs, and mentoring are actively operated. In particular, a variety of scholarships for outstanding international students greatly reduce financial burdens, and the dormitories provide a comfortable and safe environment, optimized for students’ adaptation to campus life. The Global Language Education Center offers intensive Korean and English education, systematically supporting the development of language skills necessary for both academics and daily life. Some majors offer courses taught in English, and there are active exchange and short-term study programs with overseas universities. (IEQAS certification status should be confirmed with official sources.) Kosin University provides close support for international students in academics, daily life, and career planning, helping them to become “global Christian leaders.” Campus life at Kosin University in Yeongdo, Busan—where the sea and city meet—offers a unique charm. The campus provides students with a variety of experiences and opportunities thanks to its proximity to the city center, pleasant natural environment, convenient public transportation, and vibrant local culture. With a safe and warm living environment, connections to local medical, cultural, and welfare infrastructure, and a faith-based community, student life at Kosin University will be a valuable journey for developing knowledge, character, and networks.
