Kosin University, which began alongside the reconstruction of the Korean church, is a private university with a long history, established in 1945 in Yeongdo, Busan. Located on the Busan Yeongdo Campus, where the sea and port come together, Kosin University has made “Christian values and practice” its core identity and has grown beyond theology into various fields such as health sciences, natural sciences, and global cultural convergence. By combining in-depth faith education, community engagement, and practical academics, it fosters “genuine talent,” boasting both a warm community and a solid educational environment. Kosin University’s greatest strengths lie in its specialization in “theology and health care” and its unique identity as the only mission school in the Busan region. Above all, the unique historical background of being founded by Christian believers who were imprisoned for refusing to participate in Shinto shrine worship immediately after Korea’s liberation in 1945 is a legacy unique to Kosin University, emphasizing both religious conviction and social responsibility, and serves as evidence of its role in the modern history of Korean education.
