Seoul National University of Science and Technology (SeoulTech) is a four-year national comprehensive university located in Nowon-gu, Seoul, boasting a rich history of over 110 years. Established in 1910 by an imperial decree of Emperor Sunjong of the Korean Empire, it has served as the “root of Seoul’s engineering education,” leading the city’s industrial and technological development, and is a campus where tradition and cutting-edge innovation coexist. The expansive 510,000㎡ flat campus, along with historic buildings such as Dasan Hall and Changhak Hall—designated as nationally registered cultural heritage—harmonize with modern research facilities, providing a rare “spacious and pleasant environment” in central Seoul where students can fully dedicate themselves to study and research. SeoulTech’s greatest strength lies in its practice-oriented, interdisciplinary education in engineering, technology, and design. The university comprises eight colleges and four specialized graduate schools, offering top-tier educational and research infrastructure in STEM fields such as Mechanical System Design, Information and Communication, and Energy Bio. Industry-academia cooperation programs in partnership with leading domestic companies like Samsung and Hyundai, as well as custom contract departments with Samsung, provide students with real employment competitiveness. In fact, over 58% of graduates are employed by major corporations or public institutions, and student support is systematic, with dedicated study spaces like Damheonjae for civil service and professional exams. Innovative learning spaces, including the latest edutech-based Future Learning Center and Business Incubation Center, are continuously expanding, making the curriculum strong in experimentation and creative projects. SeoulTech has produced numerous distinguished alumni active in various fields. These include celebrities such as broadcaster Kim Bum-soo, MC Kim Sung-joo, actors Namkoong Min and Song Jae-rim, singers Kim Junsu (JYJ), U-Know Yunho (TVXQ), and Park Bo-gum in the entertainment and media industries, as well as researchers, engineers, and innovators active in domestic and international industries. These alumni, equipped with both practical skills and creativity, continue to enhance SeoulTech’s reputation across all sectors of society. Furthermore, the campus, built on the historical sites of Keijō Imperial University and Seoul National University College of Engineering, holds symbolic significance as a “cradle of Korea’s industrialization and scientific and technological advancement.” Support for international students is also highly systematic. SeoulTech has obtained the Ministry of Education’s International Education Quality Assurance System (IEQAS) certification, offering favorable conditions for visas and scholarships. The university actively promotes internationalization through English tracks (such as MSDE and ITM), numerous courses taught in English, exchange and dual-degree programs with over 100 universities in more than 40 countries, and dedicated admissions processes. New and transfer international students are eligible for scholarships covering 50–100% of tuition based on admission scores, while outstanding students can receive up to full tuition and dormitory fee support. The scholarship system is detailed according to language proficiency, such as TOPIK or TOEFL (iBT 80–100), and the Office of International Affairs provides one-stop services for admissions, daily life, and career consulting. Dormitories offer 1- to 4-person rooms, a comfortable living environment at a low cost (approximately KRW 1,000,000 per semester for a 4-person room), optional meal plans, and amenities such as fitness centers and communal kitchens. Located in the northeastern part of Seoul, the campus offers a natural and pleasant environment close to the city center. With Seoul Subway Line 7 and six bus routes connecting directly to the campus, transportation is highly convenient. On campus, a variety of infrastructure—including a history museum, cafes, sports facilities, and cultural spaces—enables international students to quickly adapt and build new networks. Seoul National University of Science and Technology, blending the strengths of tradition and innovation, practical skills and creativity, and a global network, awaits your new challenge as “Seoul’s future-oriented public university.”
