Duksung Women’s University is a four-year comprehensive private women’s university located at the foot of Bukhansan Mountain in Dobong-gu, Seoul. It is a historic institution, founded in 1920 by Cha Mirisa, a renowned female independence activist and a symbol of women’s education in Korea. Under the identity of “Creating the Future with the Power of Women,” Duksung Women’s University has established itself as a cradle of Korean women’s leadership since its founding. Blending tradition and innovation, the university pursues both individual student growth and social responsibility, supported by a beautiful natural environment and modern educational infrastructure. The greatest strength of Duksung Women’s University lies in its pride as a “pioneer women’s university” and its balanced education across diverse academic fields. Not only does it hold historical significance as the first school in Korea founded by a female independence activist, but it also operates six undergraduate colleges and three graduate schools in areas such as pharmacy, natural sciences, humanities, social sciences, and arts. In particular, the pharmacy program is renowned nationwide, consistently producing female experts in the pharmaceutical and medical fields through creative research and practice-oriented education. The campus, situated on flat land harmonized with the scenery of Bukhansan, has been selected as “the most beautiful campus,” and the cherry blossoms in full bloom during spring add a unique romantic atmosphere to Duksung. Recently, the university was awarded excellent certification in the government’s International Education Quality Assurance System (IEQAS), demonstrating its recognized global educational capabilities. Alumnae of Duksung Women’s University are active in various sectors of Korean society, showcasing the university’s influence. From the arts and culture fields, such as actress Park Jung-soo, singer Hyunmi, broadcaster Park Young-joo, and comedian Lee Se-young, to the public sector with figures like politician Kim Je-nam, and sports stars such as chess player Yoo Garam and national paragliding athlete Cho Eun-young, the university has produced leaders in diverse areas. Especially notable are alumnae who have pioneered women’s professional roles, solidifying Duksung’s status as a “cradle of women’s leadership.” This alumni network provides practical mentoring and career opportunities for both current students and international students. For international students, Duksung Women’s University offers a safe and well-organized study environment. Having received excellent certification in the 2021 International Education Quality Assurance System (IEQAS), students benefit from advantages in visa issuance, scholarships, and government-supported programs. New international students are provided with full tuition waivers for four years (six years for the College of Pharmacy), monthly book purchase support during semesters, free programs at the Global Education Center, and priority support from the University Career Center, among other benefits. The university also has a well-established support system for international students, including English-taught courses, Korean language education, professional counseling, and customized orientation programs. On- and off-campus dormitories ensure a comfortable and safe living environment, and various cultural exchange programs help students quickly adapt to life in Korea. Transportation is also highly convenient. The Ssangmun-dong campus in Dobong-gu is directly adjacent to Seoul Light Rail Line 4.19 Memorial (Duksung Women’s University) Station, providing easy access from central Seoul and other major areas. The campus harmonizes with the beautiful natural scenery of Bukhansan, and a variety of club activities, festivals, and the changing seasonal landscapes add vibrancy to student life. Duksung Women’s University, embracing tradition, innovation, and women’s leadership, will be the best choice to realize your dreams and future.
