Dongshin University, located in Naju, the economic and energy hub of southern Korea, is a private comprehensive university with a distinct identity as a “university strong in employment.” Since its establishment in 1987, it has led the local community through practice-oriented education and industry-academia cooperation. In the past 12 years, it has ranked first in employment rates among universities in Gwangju and Jeonnam with over 1,000 graduates (ranking first for seven consecutive years as of 2024), proving its student-centered and practical educational outcomes. There is a mandatory one-year dormitory stay for new students (double occupancy, about 1,080,000 KRW for six months), a convenient living environment, and dedicated counseling at the International Education Center, all forming a systematic support system. Both Korean and English tracks are available, and some majors in IT, engineering, and energy are offered in English. New students can receive up to a 70% scholarship for the first semester depending on language proficiency (e.g., IELTS 6.0–7.0, TOEFL, etc.), and various scholarships for international students are also available during enrollment. Tuition is set at a reasonable level of 3,300,000–3,600,000 KRW per year (as of 2024), making it competitive among domestic universities.
