Semyung University is a private comprehensive university located in Jecheon, Chungcheongbuk-do, Republic of Korea. Its founding philosophy is “Wisae Gwangmyeong (爲世光明),” which means “nurturing outstanding talents who illuminate the world.” Since its establishment in 1991, Semyung University has rapidly grown into a leading global university in the central region, based on distinctive education and a systematic student support system. The university has been selected for nine consecutive years as an “Excellent Certified University” in the International Education Quality Assurance System (IEQAS) administered by the Ministry of Education—the only one in Chungcheongbuk-do and one of only 22 universities nationwide—officially recognizing its reliability in international student management and education. With IEQAS certification, visa issuance is simplified and various benefits are provided, such as additional points when applying for the government-sponsored Global Korea Scholarship (GKS). There are special scholarship programs for international students, with up to KRW 6 million per year (KRW 500,000 per month) awarded to outstanding students, and applicants who meet separate Korean language proficiency/TOPIK and other admission requirements are eligible to apply. On-campus and off-campus dormitory facilities are state-of-the-art, offering a safe and convenient living environment. The campus also features dedicated support spaces for international students, such as the Student Union Building, Global Lounge, and Korean Language Education Center. Some majors also offer courses taught in English, allowing students to study in both Korean and English.
