Daeshin University
Daeshin University, located in Gyeongsan, Gyeongsangbuk-do, is a four-year private university that aims to cultivate people of faith, intellectuals, and professionals under the school motto of “Loyalty, Humility, and Truth.” Established in 1991 with a reorganization rooted in the development of the local community and Korean Protestantism, the university is notable for housing both its undergraduate programs and three graduate schools on a single campus. Based on a close relationship with the Presbyterian Church of Korea (Hapdong), Daeshin University has established itself as an educational institution dedicated to nurturing pastors and professionals in the Gyeongbuk region. The greatest strength of Daeshin University lies in its balanced education in both theology and practical disciplines such as Business Administration and Public Administration. Through the establishment of its Graduate School of Theology, the university has been recognized for its expertise in theology and pastoral studies, with many graduates actively contributing to religious and social sectors both domestically and abroad. In particular, the advantages of a small, single-campus environment allow for personalized educational support and close professor-student relationships. Furthermore, industry-academic cooperation with the local community and a practice-oriented curriculum enhance graduates’ adaptability in the field. The low student-to-faculty ratio enables attentive academic guidance, distinguishing Daeshin University from other institutions. Since its 1991 reorganization, Daeshin University has maintained a clear identity with the Presbyterian Church of Korea (Hapdong), and among universities that originated as seminaries, it continues to uphold its founding philosophy through the name “Daeshin.” This extends beyond religious education to the cultivation of talent emphasizing ethical leadership and social responsibility. Graduates contribute to regional and national development in various fields, including as pastors, educators, and social workers. Daeshin University also offers unique opportunities for international students. Based on the IEQAS (International Education Quality Assurance System) standards, the university has systematized support for international students, providing English-taught courses and a variety of Korean language classes. Applicants with English proficiency of at least TOEFL iBT 71 or IELTS 5.5 are eligible for admission as freshmen or transfer students, and outstanding international students with excellent language or academic records are eligible for various scholarships, including up to 100% tuition and full dormitory fee waivers. Additionally, students with high TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) scores receive separate scholarships and support for test fees, effectively reducing the financial burden on international students. Dormitory accommodation is available for up to four years, and dedicated administrative and student support departments are in place to actively assist international students with their initial adjustment. Located in the heart of Gyeongsan, Daeshin University boasts a pleasant natural environment, excellent facilities, and outstanding accessibility to nearby major cities such as Daegu. Thanks to its single-campus system, students can enjoy academics, interaction, and campus life all in one place. Cozy dormitories, modern lecture halls, a variety of clubs, and campus events provide international students with new experiences and opportunities to build relationships. At Daeshin University, you can embark on a journey of learning where faith, academics, and practice are harmoniously integrated.
